Biography
Dr. Rajrani Gupta is a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Tennessee at Martin. She joined UTM on August 1, 2026.
She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Missouri University of Science and Technology, where she defended her dissertation titled “The Discrete Generalized Proportional Fractional Derivative” under the supervision of Dr. Martin Bohner. Her research develops a rigorous analytical framework for discrete generalized proportional fractional derivatives, including Riemann-Liouville and Caputo-type operators, Laplace transforms, discrete fractional Gronwall inequalities, and stability analysis of fractional discrete neural networks and sum-difference equations with time-variable delays.
Dr. Gupta teaches undergraduate mathematics courses including college algebra, calculus, and probability and statistics. Her teaching focuses on conceptual understanding, active learning, and student success, integrating Canvas and MyLab Math to support diverse learners and provide timely feedback.
Her scholarly interests lie in discrete fractional calculus, difference equations, stability theory, and mathematics education. She is interested in the application of fractional calculus to memory-dependent modeling and in pedagogical innovation to improve retention in lower-division mathematics.
She is committed to departmental service, student mentoring, and professional development.
