Biography
Dr. Wood currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences Education (FCSE) at the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM). In this role, she teaches and mentors future FCS educators while advising UTM’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter and co-advising the university’s Phi Upsilon Omicron (Phi U) chapter. She also represents the profession nationally as Region 2 Councilor on the Phi U National Council.
Her career has consistently centered on education. Before entering higher education, Dr. Wood served as an adjunct professor in FCS teacher training and taught at the secondary level after earning her master’s degree. Earlier in her career, she gained industry and leadership experience as a marketing manager, coaching engineers in interview and presentation skills, and as a merchandiser for a high-end fashion designer, where she trained retail associates.
Dedicated to professional leadership, Dr. Wood has advised multiple Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) and was recently elected President-Elect of the Tennessee Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, underscoring her commitment to advancing the field and supporting FCS educators statewide.
