Biography
Austin Shoupe is the Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Tennessee - Martin. In this role he teaches courses in percussion and percussion lessons as well as directs the Percussion Ensemble and the drumline of the Aviator Marching Band. Past teaching positions include Percussion Teaching Assistant at the University of Kentucky, Director of Instrumental Music at Thomas Jefferson High School (Rockford, IL), studio teacher for the Cambridge Studio (Pingree Grove, IL) and the Imperial School of Music (Geneva, IL), and marching percussion instructor for various schools in Illinois and Kentucky.
As a performer, Shoupe has performed with numerous bands and orchestras, including the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, the Fox Valley Orchestra, the Chicago Symphonic Winds, and the Jackson Symphony. He has also performed in the pit orchestras of Elgin Summer Music Theatre, Jedlicka Performing Arts Center, Elgin Community College, and the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp Music Theatre.
Austin Shoupe is a member of the Black Swamp Educator's Network. He also endorses Zildjian cymbals and Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.
