Chemical physics is an interdisciplinary field that uses the tools and models from physics to understand chemical systems. The Chemical Physics concentration offers students the opportunity to gain laboratory and computational experience applying principles like quantum mechanics and modern tools like x-ray diffraction and laser, mass, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. You will study atomic and molecular structure and chemical reactions in gases, liquids, and solids. Your choice of chemistry and physics electives will prepare you for either a career in industry or pursuit of graduate study in science or engineering.
“It can be difficult to come back as a nontraditional student, but it’s not impossible. I’ve gotten more out of my experience at UTM than I ever thought I could, and it has been 100 percent worth the work. ”
